Stitch Summer Solstice, a counted cross stitch kit by Bothy Threads — a fox, badger, hares and songbirds gather in a sunlit woodland clearing around a small stream.

A little stitcher's folklore: on Midsummer's Eve people once gathered St John's wort and lit bonfires, believing the shortest night was when fairies were most about.

Why this kit: based on artwork by Lizzie Spikes of Driftwood Designs, it was released to mark the Summer Solstice 2026 and adds metallic gold thread for the light.

Kit includes: 14-count white Zweigart Aida, pre-sorted stranded cottons, metallic gold thread, a needle and a clear stitch diagram and instructions. Stitches used: cross stitch, back stitch and French knots. A frame is not included.

Stitch the woodland in cross stitch from the centre, add the animals' outlines in back stitch, then the French knots and gold highlights.

Finished size: 26×26 cm (10.2×10.2 in). A rich woodland scene for nature lovers.
